The numbers restart, but the shoes keep getting larger.

On this reference scale, child size 13 is followed by youth size 1Y. The number restarts at 1, but the shoe continues to get larger. Some brands also offer size 13.5 and use different category names.

How to Get the Most Useful Size Estimate

Measure both feet

Have your child stand with full weight on each foot. Measure from the heel to the longest toe.

Use the longer measurement

Do not add extra length to the measurement before comparing it with the chart.

Confirm the fit

Check the shoe brand's own chart, then verify toe room, width, heel security, and walking comfort.

This chart provides an approximate reference only. Shoe sizing and fit vary by brand, width, and shoe shape. Always check the manufacturer's size chart before buying.
