Studies have shown that a number of foot issues can stem from diabetes. Many diabetics suffer from Charcot neuroarthropathy, a disease that affects the bones in the ankle and feet. Untreated, this can cause a deformity that forces sufferers to walk on the outside of the afflicted foot.
